Ever Banega, Diego Forlan, and Simao Sabrosa scored a goal each to trample relegation-bound C.D. Numancia as Atletico Madrid hangs on in the battle for fourth place with Valencia, which trails at fifth place with an equal 49 points but with one more game to play.
Sergio Aguero, Simao and Forlan also added an assist each to make the win convincing for Altetico.
C.D. Numancia is set to be relegated to the second-tier league with only 28 points so far, trailing Recreativo Huelva with 30 and followed by Espanyol with 26. It looks like Sporting de Gijon is safe from relegation with 33 points.
